DUNFERMLINE, SCOTLAND -
"Silver Castle", Third single from veteran alt Rock band Metatone, is a departure from the norm. 80s synths and an addictive hook take the band in a brave new direction.
The band follow a DIY ethos, self-releasing their music via online distribution.
"Silver Castle" promotes the upcoming EP from Metatone tentatively titled 45.
The entire EP was recorded by the band, and mixed and mastered by Michael Brennan Jr (Producer for Super Furry Animals, FOH engineer for Faith No More, The Jesus and Mary Chain) of Substation Studio during the Covid 19 pandemic in April and May 2020.
The band were incredibly fortunate to be asked by Michael to appear on Substation records' 'C19 House Music' compilation alongside tracks by members of Faith No More and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Another track has featured on the Road to Grungefest LP from SOS Records, with all proceeds from that LP going to Diabetes UK.
The band have a close affinity to the Seattle scene, in particular Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, Brad and Soundgarden. Guitarist and vocalist Andy has continued to work on a side project with friend and Seattle drummer/ producer Greg Gilmore, on a project he's calling Dog Watch. Dog Watch also features on Road to Grungefest.

Bio
"There is no shame in growing old, she said, caressing his cheek. His eyes lost focus, his mind swimming with regrets. The things he could have said or done. The unfulfilled dreams. The risks not taken. Lost friendships. Submission. Compromise. Guilt. Fear. Secrets. Lies.
What had become of life? What had made him compromise his life to suit those who would enslave him? A rage lingered somewhere inside, looking for escape. Vengeance will come, and it will be on his terms.
The Terms of Equanimity.
Welcome to Scottish veteran alt-rock/post-grunge band Metatone. A three-piece based either side of the Forth, comprising Andy Colliar on guitar and vocals, John Hughes on bass and vocals, and Rod Habeshaw on drums and vocals.
Sick of trying to be alternative, just like everyone else, Metatone are a band that are proud to be themselves, playing the music they love the way they want. Independent. Self-produced. The DIY ethos of true punk. Perfection is for tomorrow to worry about. Today we need to say what needs to be said.
Metatone were formed in 2010 by three friends who have been playing in various Scottish bands for the previous 20 years, including Holocaust, STML, endorphin, Cool Devil Hills and Voice of the Black Knife. Veterans of over 700 gigs between them, the member of Metatone took a step back to focus on making music for themselves to enjoy. Playing just a handful of gigs over the following ten years, including several at venues in Edinburgh, Dunfermline and West Lothian, and a showcase at The Edinburgh Guitar and Music Festival at the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh.
They released their first single in September 2020 and were featured 'song of the day' by Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio, with plays on the Tom Russell Rock Show on The Max, Ayrshire Online Radio, Belter Radio and other online radio stations. Metatone are also on the bill of Grungefest 2021.
